Missed the Payout? Understanding the "Ex-Date" in Malaysia

There is nothing quite as annoying as buying a stock, waiting for the dividend, and then... nothing happens. Usually, this happens because you missed the Ex-Date. Think of it like a "cutoff line" at a theme park. If you aren't in the queue before the gates close, you aren't getting on the ride.

The Perspective

Don't freak out if you see the stock price drop by 20 cents on the morning of the Ex-Date. The market is just "extracting" the dividend value from the share price.
